Why the work exists

Lived experience became a promise to help others move forward.

Healing Self Compass grew from Heather’s experience, her direct and nonjudgmental way of meeting hard conversations, and her belief that support should strengthen a person’s agency rather than create dependence.

Why Heather began HSC

Experience became a personal promise.

Healing Self Compass grew from Heather’s experience of spending many years in an abusive relationship before she was able to leave. That experience shaped a personal promise: to devote her work to helping others understand how harmful patterns take hold, rebuild trust in themselves, and move forward on their own terms. HSC is built around the directness, transparency, and nonjudgmental support Heather believes people deserve.

Clarity, choice, and personal power.

Our mission is to help people break the patterns that bind them to toxic and abusive relationships, reclaim their voice and self-trust, and move forward with clarity, choice, and personal power—through direct, transparent, nonjudgmental support.

Working principles

Support that respects the person’s authority.

These principles guide how Healing Self Compass communicates and works.

01

Clarity before pressure

Explain the scope, process, practitioner, privately discussed pricing, policies, and next step before asking someone to commit.

02

Agency before assumptions

The person chooses what to share, how HSC may reply, and whether coaching is the next appropriate step.

03

Honesty before claims

Use plain language. Verify credentials. Describe what HSC does without promising a result or blurring coaching with therapy.
