Heather L. Patton

Master NLP Practitioner | Founder | Healing Self Compass

Hi, I’m Heather.

I’m the founder of Healing Self Compass, a trauma-informed recovery specialist, Master NLP Practitioner, author, and advocate committed to helping individuals navigate life’s most challenging seasons with compassion, clarity, and hope.

While my professional training has provided valuable tools and insight, I believe healing happens through connection. Credentials tell you how I’ve been trained; conversations tell you who I am. My work is rooted in both professional training and lived experience, allowing me to meet people where they are with authenticity, understanding, and practical support.

This work is deeply personal to me. Like many of the individuals we serve, I have faced challenges, loss, difficult relationships, and seasons that required me to rebuild and rediscover myself. Those experiences shaped not only who I am, but how I show up for others. They taught me the importance of feeling seen, heard, supported, and empowered to move forward.

Over the years, I have developed a particular passion for helping individuals recover from toxic and abusive relationships, rebuild their confidence, reconnect with themselves, and create lives rooted in safety, self-trust, and authenticity.

One phrase you’ll hear me say often is, “Let’s talk about it.” Whether you’re healing from trauma, recovering from a difficult relationship, navigating a major life transition, or simply searching for clarity and direction, healing begins when we create space for honest conversations and meaningful growth.

Outside of my work, my greatest joys are my three daughters, my grandchildren, my tribe of lifelong friends who have become family, and my four-legged sidekick, Maverick (“Mav”). I enjoy traveling, spending time near the water, golfing, hiking, cheering on my favorite sports teams, and embracing new adventures. Music has always been one of the constants in my life, offering perspective, connection, comfort, and joy through every season.

Healing Self Compass is about more than one person. It is a growing community of compassionate professionals dedicated to helping people move from surviving to thriving. I am honored to be part of that mission and grateful you’ve found your way here.

I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey.

Specialty

Recovery from Toxic & Abusive Relationships with a special focus on Narcissism.

My Professional Path

What began as personal survival turned into purpose.

I pursued advanced training in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, trauma-informed coaching, emotional processing, healing communication patterns, and identity restructuring. I went on to earn over a dozen certifications to ensure that what I offer clients is not only empathetic — but clinically structured, informed, and effective.

As the practice grew, I expanded Healing Self Compass into a team-based model, bringing on practitioners who share my mission:

empowering survivors to break trauma cycles, feel deeply safe in their own bodies again, and rebuild the life they deserve.

My approach blends evidence-based methodology with lived understanding — a combination that creates real movement, real clarity, and real transformation.

A Safe Space for All Survivors

Healing Self Compass was built to serve every survivor — including those in the LGBTQ+ community.

I understand firsthand the unique dynamics that can exist within same-sex relationships, especially when abuse, manipulation, or narcissistic behavior is present. I intentionally create a space where identity is respected, relationships are understood, and clients never have to educate their practitioner before receiving help.

My practice welcomes:

Same-sex couples

LGBTQ+ individuals navigating relationship trauma

Clients rebuilding identity after invalidation or suppression

Anyone whose story has been misunderstood, minimized, or erased

Survivors deserve a place where their reality is believed — and their healing is prioritized.

Why I Do This Work

I do this work because I know what it feels like to lose everything — and still find the strength to rise.

I do it because survivors often leave abuse only to face a second battle: the confusion, shame, doubt, guilt, trauma bonds, and emotional damage that linger long after the relationship ends.

I do it because I believe healing is not just possible — it is powerful, liberating, and transformative.

I do it because every survivor deserves someone who understands the depths of their story, the complexity of their healing, and the courage it takes to rebuild.

And I do it because I am living proof that your past does not define your future.

The Woman Behind the Work

Outside of coaching, I’m a mother, a grandmother, a friend, and someone who rebuilt her world piece by piece.

I’m passionate, direct, grounded, and deeply connected to the people I serve. I will always meet you with compassion — and I will always hold you capable of rising.

I’m not here to fix you.

I’m here to help you find the version of yourself that abuse tried to erase.

This is the heart of Healing Self Compass:

Truth

Clarity

Strength

Reclamation

A return to self

A rise that cannot be undone
